Inevitably, there is always someone that will undercut your quote, not just for design work, but in every business sector.

Recently I lost out on a logo and website design project due to a more ‘competitive’ quote being obtained. Normally I’d be thinking… damn, that’s a shame, it could have been a nice project. However, this time I’m not too bothered. The more time I (and others) spend in the world of self employment the more you come across people that can only be described as ‘chancers’. You know the sort? No matter what you include in a quote or no matter how much you discount the cost or try to accommodate the potential ‘client’, they’re never quite satisfied and will always look for a cheaper option. Not necessarily a better quote, quality wise, but never the less cheaper.

The lessons I’ve learned from these types of people is that sometimes you just have to wish them farewell and good luck. There’s a fair chance you’ll hear from them again anyway when they realise what they’ve eventually got from a new supplier is quite literally what they paid for it and isn’t up to the job.

One thing’s for sure though… I’ll be keeping a close lookout for the website that they’ve gone for to cast an eye over and hopefully I won’t be proved wrong ;-)

I pleased to announce that yesterday I (Chuse Design) agreed to sign up & help out John Hibbs (@hibbsy), a local guy raising money for the Lupus UK Charity. John is currently grafting his ass off not only trying to raise funds & awareness but training for the Great North Run.

I’ve happily volunteered to help John out with any design requirements he may have, notably his new logo (visuals to be posted soon) & any Point of Sale items he may need.

John is always on the lookout for companies who are willing to help & in return get a bit of exposure for themselves as well as the knowledge that they’re doing a good deed! If you’d like to get involved I’m sure he’d be happy to hear from you!
